Cardiac function assessed by systolic time intervals after aortocoronary saphenous vein bypass surgery.

چکیده
Systolic time intervals were measured in 33 patients undergoing aortocoronary saphenous vein bypass, before operation and 7 days after operation. Eighteen patients had normal systolic time intervals before operation (group I), and I5 had abnormal preoperative intervals (group II). Group I patients experienced significant shortening of the left ventricular ejection time index from 404 msec to 371 msec postoperatively (P< o ooi), with no significant change in the pre-ejection phase index. These changes are consistent with acute left ventricular dysfunction in the early postoperative period. Group II patients had an entirely different response, with

Epicardial dissection may solve the problem of saphenous vein graft length
Saphenous vein graft length may be not enough in some cases in aortocoronary bypass surgery. If the graft length is not enough, cardiac surgeons can use epicardial and fatty dissection to release tightening saphenous vein graft, especially in the right coronary artery fashion.
متن کاملMyocardial infarction after aortocoronary saphenous vein bypass. Vectorcardiographic study.
Vectorcardiograms and scalar electrocardiograms were recorded in 30 patients before and after aortocoronary saphenous vein bypass surgery to determine whether vectorcardiograms are helpful in making the diagnosis of perioperative transmural infarction. The vectorcardiogram indicated inferior infarction in 2 cases and anterior infarction in 1 case when the diagnosis was not apparent on the elect...
متن کاملGene delivery to aortocoronary saphenous vein grafts in a large animal model of intimal hyperplasia.
OBJECTIVE More than 50% of aortocoronary saphenous vein grafts are occluded 10 years after surgery. Intimal hyperplasia is an initial, critical step in the progression toward occlusion. To date, no clinically relevant large animal models of aortocoronary saphenous vein graft intimal hyperplasia have been fully characterized. Gene therapy holds promise as a novel treatment for aortocoronary saph...
متن کاملMultiple aortocoronary bypass saphenous vein graft aneurysms in a 77-year-old man.
Aneurysms of aortocoronary saphenous vein bypass grafts are a rare complication of coronary artery bypass grafts. The authors report the incidental finding of four aneurysms in two aortocoronary saphenous vein bypass grafts in a 77-year-old man with progressive generalized weakness, left facial drooping, and digitalis toxicity. A brief review of the literature on this rare condition is also pro...
متن کاملRadial artery versus saphenous vein patency randomized trial: five-year angiographic follow-up.
BACKGROUND Graft patency is a fundamental predictor of long-term survival after coronary artery bypass surgery. Left and right internal thoracic artery (arterial) graft patency has been shown to be superior to that of saphenous vein grafts. More recently, the radial artery has been used as an aortocoronary graft, but little is known about the midterm and long-term patency of this conduit. We pe...
